Watch Guard Firewall

If your employer uses WatchGuard, a popular firewall used by many small and medium-sized organizations, you may wish to ask your network administrator to make the following modification:

HTTP Proxy --> Properties --> Settings --> Settings Tab --> Uncheck "Remove Client Connection Info.

This change will allow the referer to pass. If your network administrator wishes to view more detailed information about this change, he or she may visit the following site. A WatchGuard user name and password are necessary for access:

Norton Personal Firewall/ Norton Internet Security 2002 and Earlier

Both of these programs block referer information, which is needed to verify your access to the University Library and to many of its information providers. Fortunately, these programs also allow users to make simple adjustments to allow access. Specifically, it is necessary to instruct the program to allow referer nformation to pass to the following sites:
